12 October 2020
A new Job Support Scheme will be introduced from 1 November 2020 to protect viable jobs in businesses that are facing lower demand over the winter months due to coronavirus
The new scheme will replace the Job Retention Scheme when it closes on 31 October and will run for six months.
The government will pay two thirds of their employees' salaries up to a maximum of £2,100 per month.
• No further contribution will be required from the employer but they will have to cover NICS and pension contributions.
• Businesses will only be eligible to claim the above grant while they are subject to restrictions and employees must be off work for a minimum of seven consecutive days.
The announcement has come before the guidance or the legislation is in place so this is subject to change/clarification.
